GOV UK PaaS
Description
A part of the Common Platform provided by GDS, PaaS is a service which provides development teams from within the public sector with the ability to host and run applications written in a limited set of languages, use some common hosted backing services and do so cheaply and efficiently.
It is primarily designed for government digital services that do not have or do not wish to spend money on infrastructure operations engineers to manage their services. Due to the lack of infrastructure engineers, the system is designed to only allow applications to run that have very simple operational requirements, those that fit within a defined architecture pattern generally called “12 factor”.
